Our 2018 Project

Our 2018 project. We got there in the end! Living on a hill our garage floor was two feet lower than the house. It has never been used as a garage (too small for modern cars) but has made a great store room since we moved here over 40 years ago.
It did not even have a door on when we moved here and Alan set about building a double door for security and having an integral door built into the hall for access.
As the garage door needed replacing again it seemed the right time to raise the floor and turn it into a 'proper' room.
Two of our dear friends took on the work and all Alan was left with was the painting.

My Garden 2018

I have finally got to posting some photos of my garden this year. Chosen just a few to give some idea of how the year has progressed

Things start to perk up when the Crab Apple blossom starts to open up

and without wishing my life away my thoughts turn to welcoming the Summer roses and more

!
We have over the last two years removed 15 shrubs from the garden in order to make it more manageable as we get older.
Less shrubs for me to prune, but more lawn for Alan to mow. I think I got the best deal!

We got there in the end
Wasn't sure if I would like the open spaces but now that I have got used to them I do

Oxburgh Hall, Norfolk Part 3

If you have not already looked at part 1 and 2, I would suggest that you did as there is some history there as well as many photos of this magnificent house.
Starting this post with pictures of the Priest's Hole.

Priest holes were concealed spots created especially for Priests, so they could hide away safely during a time when Catholics were persecuted. Under Elizabeth I, Priests were often imprisoned , tortured, and even killed. Priest holes were especially disguised within a house to baffle search parties.
